Charles S. Kubik (d. 1982), MD, 1914, Rush Medical College, Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School, was Chief of Neurological Services at Massachusetts General Hospital. Kubik established the Neuropathology Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1927, which now bears his name; under Kubik's direction the laboratory became known as one of the leading centers for neuropathology in the United States. Dr. James Jackson and Dr. John C. Warren initially sought funds for a hospital in Boston, Mass. which would also be made available to student s of the Harvard Medical School for clinical training. It was incorporated in 1811 as Massachusetts General Hospital, and in 1817 Jackson and Warren were appointed as acting physician and surgeon, respectively. The first patients were admitted in 1821.
